Optional Step: Add Varsity Tutors as a Custom App (if required based on admin access)
If your admin permissions require you to manually add the Varsity Tutors app with ACS (Assertion Consumer Service), follow these steps:
- Navigate to Applications › Add & Assign Apps.
- Click + Add New App and select Add Custom App.
- In the New App dialog, enter:
- Application Name: Varsity Tutors
- Category: Education
- Description: One-click SSO access to Varsity Tutors
- Single Sign-On App: Yes
- Type: SAML 2.0
- Assertion Consumer Service (ACS) URL: https://{your_district}.varsitytutors.com/saml/acs
What is ACS? The Assertion Consumer Service (ACS) is the endpoint on the service provider’s side (Varsity Tutors) that receives and processes SAML authentication responses from the identity provider (ClassLink). When a user signs in, ClassLink sends a signed SAML assertion to this URL to log the user in.
